United Methodist Women

President: Betty Fent
Secretary: Meredith Fowler
Treasurer: Margie Crapse
Spiritual Growth Coordinator: Shirley Bowers

The Women’s Society of Christian Service (WSCS) of Trinity United Methodist Church was organized during the early days of the church’s history. Beulah Cline, Sue Gilmer, Edna Ruth Zachry, and several other ladies worked very diligently to get the WSCS organized.  The WSCS later was changed to the United Methodist Women (UMW). The adopted purpose of the UMW is: The organized unit of the United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as a whole person through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. The primary goal is to support missions at the local level, district level, conference level, and global level.

The UMW has grown and appreciates the service of four circles, each of which provides a vital part in the growth of the church through different projects. Trinity’s UMW has met all the criteria for a Five Star UMW. In addition to the circles’ activities and quarterly UMW meetings, the UMW and UMM have a yard sale each fall to raise money for mission projects.

All ladies of Trinity are invited to join the UMW and participate in mission activities.

UMW Circles:

Circle of Hope — Our group was named for the goals we aim to accomplish – giving HOPE to women and children through service and gifts. Our past and planned projects benefit a variety of groups including Trinity Youth, Epworth Children's Home, the Life Choices Pregnancy Care Center, the Augusta Burn Center, the Honduras Agape Foundation, and the Wysongs (Trinity’s missionaries in the Ukraine). We are proud to be involved at Trinity by serving within our church and by spreading Christ’s love in Trinity’s name. All women of the church are welcome to join the Circle of Hope's Facebook group (Trinity UMC Circle of Hope) and offer suggestions for get-togethers, Bible studies, and service projects.

Friendship Circle — focus is nurturing. The Circle nurture the “sweet folks,” the elderly single members of Trinity's congregation, with remembrances several times throughout the year. The Circle also plans to begin nurturing our elderly in nursing homes. Need families are nurtured at Christmas. Circle members nurture each other at monthly meetings through devotions, prayer and fellowship and throughout the year as secret pals, dinners and weekend retreats.

Joy Circle —  a group of mature women meeting the first Tuesday of each month (Sept.-June). During each meeting, there is a devotion, a short program and discussions about ministering to needs of others. Funds collected during the year are used for church and community needs.

Susannah Wesley Circle — meeting on the 3rd Monday of every month (Sept.-May) at 10:00 a.m., in the room across from the church office. The Cirlce has a Bible study led by Circle members along with a regular meeting. The Circle is involved in helping women and children in many areas — locally in our church and community and through the UMW organization. All ladies are welcome to join us.
